The cocking-piece got a new shape and looks like the one on the present Carl Gustaf 2000 rifles. It got a small extra guiding-lug on the lower locking-lug. It uses short modern extractor and ejector. Husqvarna model 1900 In 1967 Husqvarna released a new action. Approx 60000 were made from 1970 -1979, serial numbers 300, missing out large chunks of the numbering system. Husqvarna manufactured the Model 1900 in the HVA Gunworks, serial numbers 307 Then FFV/Carl Gustaf bought the Gunworks and continued to manufacture the 1900 under the FFV designation. Remingtons made after 1921 use a date code on the barrel that is pretty accurate, but numbers do repeat. The code doesn't work on all rifles, especially limited runs of specific rifles, but is accurate on most. On MOST Marlins made 1972-present subtract the 1st 2 digits of the SN from 100 to get the DOM. My rifle also has the earlier steel trigger guard and floorplate assembly. The barrel sports a small crest and the word 'Nitro'-a smokeless powder proofmark. On the bottom of the receiver ring are proof marks and a serial number. It is also molded into the plastic buttplate. Even though sheep do not need the type of bullet that Woodleigh makes, the safety provided by them would add a degree of reliability to the hunter in need of extended coverage. My rifle has the Husqvarna crest stamped on top of the receiver ring.

I explained to them that a good deal of the time sheep hunters in our Alaska are hunting in country that has grizzly bear. It was for this reason of the best rifles and ctgs for the sheep hunter, that I asked Woodleigh to bring out bullets in 6.5mm which they did. The 1640 action does have a good position into days highly specialised custom gunmakers market as they are highly desirable for the guy that wants the best in a sheep rifle and demands the reliability of a controlled feed action. The actions that replaced the 1640 was designed by Gunnar Larsson in 1965 and did not go into production until 1967 this was the Model 1900 and as nice as this NEW action is, it could not be mistaken for a Mauser action as it is a push feed action. Remember that the receiver ring on the Model 98 is 1.3' and these on the 1640 is 1.290'. It is a long and vary interesting history and far to long for me to try and improve on the work of Stuart Otteson.
